FORD IS THE IMPALA SS SEEN PICTURED BELOW. THIS IS A REAL 427 SS
FASTBACK FEATURING THE HIGHLY DESIRABLE Z24 CODE DOME HOOD
427 AND EXTREMELY RARE HIDEAWAY HEADLAMPS. THE CAR IS FULLY
DOCUMENTED BY ITS GM OF CANADA PAPERWORK AND THE ORIGINAL
BUILDSHEET. THE EXTERIOR COLOR HAS BEEN CHANGED FROM THE ORIGINAL
TEAL BLUE TO RED. THIS IS DOCUMENTED AS A REAL 427 CAR. THE MOTOR
CURRENTLY IN THE CAR DOES HAVE THE VIN NUMBER STAMPED ON THE PAD BUT
I BELIEVE IT TO BE NON ORIGINAL BECAUSE THE DATE CODE WAS 3 MONTHS
AFTER THE CAR WAS BUILT. THE ORIGINAL 427 WAS A 385 HP MOTOR. THE
CURRENT MOTOR IS A 427 425 HORSEPOWER WITH THE 4 BOLT MAIN AND SOLID
LIFTERS DATE CODED C258 WHICH IS MARCH 25 1968 WITH A
CASTING CODE OF 3935439. THIS POWERHOUSE IS TEAMED WITH THE M21
MANUAL TRANS CONNECTED TO THE 3:73 POSI REAR END. IT IS ALSO
EQUIPTED WITH THE DESIRABLE F41 SUSPENSION, FACTORY TACH, CORRECT
DATE CODED 15x6 WHEELS WRAPPED IN REDLINE TIRES.
THE HIDEAWAY HEADLAMP OPTION FOR
IMPALAS IS ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY DEBATED ASPECTS OF THE 68 IMPALA.
PAPERWORK FROM GM SHOWS THIS AS A CAPRICE ONLY OPTION. HOWEVER THERE
ARE QUITE A FEW 68 IMPALAS GOING AROUND WITH HIDEAWAY HEADLAMPS.
EVERYONE KNOWS BACK THEN A PAYING CUSTOMER COULD GET A CAR BUILT
JUST ABOUT ANY WAY THEY WANTED IT BUT THROUGH OUR RESEARCH NO
ONE HAS EVER HAD DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE FACTORY INSTALLED
HIDEAWAYS, EITHER THEY WHERE ALWAYS LEFT OFF BECAUSE THEY WHERE
TECHNICALLY NOT AVAILABLE OR THESE HEADLAMPS MAY HAVE BEEN DEALER
INSTALLED WHEN NEW. THE PATINA OF THE HEADLAMPS MATCHES THE GRILLE
AND THE GRILLE STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL STYLE RIVETS SO MY BEST GUESS
IS MAYBE IT WAS DEALER INSTALLED WHEN NEW. THE CAR ALSO RETAINS ALL
FOUR T3 HEADLAMPS.
THE CAR COMES WITH ALL THE GM
CANADA PAPERWORK AND BUILDSHEET SHOWING IS IS A REAL Z24 CAR 427 V8.
IT ALSO COMES WITH A VERY EXTENSIVE APPRAISAL THAT WAS COMPLETED IN
2007 I INCLUDED BELOW. KEEP IN MIND SINCE THIS APPRAISAL WAS DONE
THIS CAR HAS HAD THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FULLY RE DETAILED ALONG WITH
THE UNDERCARRIAGE INCLUDING ALL THE SUSPENSION REMOVED AND
REFINISHED, REAR END, DRIVE SHAFT AND MUCH MORE. THEY HAVE ALSO
RECEIVED THE FACTORY PAINTMARKINGS AND PAPER TAGS. BEFORE ANY OF

EXCELLENT. IT RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT AND FIRES UP AT THE TURN OF A
KEY. IT GOES DOWN THE ROAD STRAIGHT AND SHIFTS SMOOTHLY. THE MOTOR
IS STRONG AND POWERFUL. EVERYTHING IN THE CAR WORKS CORRECTLY WITH
THE EXCEPTION OF THE CLOCK. THIS IS A READY TO GO SHOW CAR THAT IS
PRICED RIGHT SO BID TO BUY!!!
